On behalf of my family (The Weatherlys) and The X Team, we hope you're staying well in your part of the world. Along with you, we're doing our best to stay socially connected while physically distanced to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We're deeply grateful for the essential/frontline workers who are helping people in need and for everyone who is doing their part to help flatten the pandemic curve. Thank you for practicing radical self-care for yourself and others!
2020 Understatement: A lot has changed since we last connected…
Just before the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic, we were in the midst of campaigning for Superstar X’s short film, Alien Realities, a rainbow sci-fi docudrama about two siblings (aka my brother Edward and I) who are separated by the alien realities of schizophrenia, forcing them to find an otherworldly way to reconnect. Now, here we are in what seems like a global sci-fi that is certainly not the reality we imagined.
Given the “current reality,” and after many -ions, like hibernation, reflection, meditation, frustration, connection, disconnection, reinvention, and transformation, Superstar X is finally coming out, yet again…
To Be Hopeful…
Over the last 11 weeks or so, I couldn’t help but ponder the smallness and bigness of our collective realization (or denial) as we process the vast impacts of the changes initiated by the COVID-19 pandemic… among the effects of these changes to welcome and/or to grieve, dependent on one’s variable perspectives and circumstances, I’m choosing to remain hopeful that humanity is headed toward a transformationally better way of being and doing in the world.
In other words, my hope is that we collectively focus on what’s truly important in life: health, safety, security, and love (aka, integrated, multidimensional wellness), including meaningful connection with ourselves, other people, and the world we live in, while being the change we truly want to see.
To Be Mindful (& Heartful)…
While May is Mental Health (Awareness) Month, observed in the United States since 1949, mental health is always on our hearts and minds, for everyone and everywhere. From my family’s experience, we know mental health is often not an easy (aka often bRuTaL) journey to navigate, yet we’re also mindful that we can co-create better days ahead.
This to say, as always, and especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic, we want you to know we're with you... we especially empathize with those who are navigating the compounded effects of having a mental illness or mental health challenge during the “current reality” and also with those who are experiencing mental health challenges for the first time, particularly the anxiety that can often accompany severe and sudden change(s).
For your reference, we've compiled a list below of mental health hotlines and resources:
Mind Your Mind (Canada)
National Institute of Mental Health (United States of America)
National Health Service (United Kingdom)
Mental Health Europe (for youth throughout Europe, based in Brussels)
Checkpoint (global directory of resources, with offices in Australia and New Zealand, "run by health professionals who love games (and gamers who love mental health!)")
To Be Purposeful…
As a for-purpose corporation, Superstar X strives to co-create multimedia “X” products and experiences that resonate with diverse and inclusive audiences, “to celebrate being human and destigmatize being different,” keeping in mind our accountability to be the change we want to see in the world and for the world.
While it’s certainly not a “perfect” process or system of processes as the world transforms, Superstar X continues to live its values by fuelling The X Shop, “a shoppable art gallery for the superstar in all of us,” collaborating and/or partnering with individuals, organizations, and manufacturers that support equitable, sustainable, and just practices, with mindful/heartful consideration of the Earth and its inhabitants.
Especially now, we understand it's not an ideal time for shopping, in addition to the necessity (more-than-ever) for even-more mindful/heartful purchasing decisions/actions... That is, if/when you decided to become a member of The X Family, our hope is that your purchase(s) will be a keepsake!
So, if you find yourself wanting to add something colourful and meaningful to your world, such as a keepsake of shoppable art from The X Shop, to show our appreciation for your patronage, we're offering this -20% promo code (until May 31st): #THANKYOUFORBEINGX2020
As always, in addition to proceeds from The X Shop benefiting Superstar X's current X Artists and allowing Superstar X to continue co-creating goodness with and for future X Artists, 10% from each purchase is gifted to initiatives, programs, and/or organizations that positively impact multidimensional wellness, especially for children and youth. Currently, Myles Ahead is the charity that Superstar X gifts 10% from each of the products sold within The X Shop.
Also, if you’re able to give now, we invite you to donate directly to Myles Ahead, which focuses on advancing child and youth mental health. Thank you!
To Be Grateful…
For now, this is Superstar X’s official start to being more out in the world again; to be more of and to do more of what we want to see in the world. Thank you for being part of The X Family and for helping us make a positive difference together!
We welcome your questions and/or feedback, and you can always contact us at email@example.com or (+1) 647-953-9859. We'd love to hear from you! We look forward to continuing to connect with you as we collectively navigate the “current reality.”
Stay well and #ThankYOUforBeingX!
